Hynek is affiliated with the Center for Language and Speech Processing, where he served as Director from 2010 to 2022. He is also affiliated with the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence. He is on the faculty of the Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. Hynek is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA). He received the 2013 ISCA Medal for Scientific Achievement and the 2020 IEEE James L. Flanagan Speech and Audio Processing Award. He was awarded Dr. Eng. degree from the University of Tokyo.
