Abstract

Information is one of the most powerful forces in today’s digital era, shaping decisions at every level of society. While the ways we seek and access information have evolved over time, core challenges—such as cultural barriers, echo chambers, information overload, etc.—persist. With the advent of LLM-powered conversational search, there is hope that capabilities like multilingual understanding, summarization, and personalization can help overcome these long-standing issues. In this talk, we will examine how LLMs influence information foraging, what limitations remain, and what directions can lead to more equitable and effective knowledge access.
