Before joining Hopkins, I worked for ~ three years in Hewlett-Packard Labs, India. I worked on Text-to-Speech synthesis and Hand Writing Recognition (see LipiTK). I was recognized for outstanding contribution to the HP Labs achievements for the year 2004.
And prior to that I spent three years doing my masters (by Research) in Computer Science & Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. For my masters thesis, I worked on multi-lingual Text-to-Speech synthesis for Indian languages. During my masters, I also lead a team working on Multi-modal interfaces (Speech + HandWriting + Keyboard) and local language support for Linux.
