LIBFSM: A Weighted Finite-State Transducer Toolkit
(Michael Riley, Fernando Pereira, Mehryar Mohri)

This talk will give an overview of the AT&T weighted finite-state
transducer library, which has been made available to the JHU Workshop
participants this year. These tools construct, display, combine,
optimize and search weighted FSTs. We have found these tools useful
for representing and manipulating language models, pronunciation
lexicons, word and phone lattices, context-dependency specifications
(including triphonic acoustic models and decision trees),
morphological rules, and text normalization rules.

The talk will concentrate on a concrete, intuitive introduction to the
primitive operations in the library and examples of their use. Those
interested in detailed explanation of the formal language and
algorithmic theory that underlies these operations should consult the
references on http://www.clsp.jhu.edu/ws97/pronunciation/riley/fsm.html.
