Applying speech / language technologies to communication disorders: New challenges for basic research Jan van Santen - 07/28/2004

  • Abstract:

There is a vast number of potential applications of speech/language technology to (broadly defined) communication disorders. Some can be realized right now, but others require basic technology research. These challenges present exciting opportunities for the speech/language technology community. We illustrate these general points by describing a few ongoing projects at the Center for Spoken Language Understanding at OGI on dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and autism.
