  • Abstract:

The auditory system allows the brain to hear and process speech over a wide range of sound levels and in a variety of difficult listening environments (e.g. noisy backgrounds). This talk will discuss the mechanisms for encoding speech in the auditory periphery, the means by which the auditory system achieves its wide dynamic range, and the effects of hearing loss on the neural representation of speech.
