Workshop 2009 Undergraduate Application

    Undergraduate Student Selection Guidelines

Four to eight undergraduate students will be selected for next summer's workshop. It is expected that they will be members of the current junior class so that their proficiency will be consistent with the goals of the workshop: attracting outstanding students to graduate study and research in the field of language engineering.

Applicants conversant with computer usage, including Unix and either C, C++, Perl, Python or Java programming and acquainted with basic probability or statistics will be preferred. Knowledge in any of the following will be considered, but is not a prerequisite: Linguistics, Speech Communication, Natural Language Processing, Cognitive Science, Machine Learning, Digital Signal Processing, Signals and Systems, Linear Algebra, Data Structures, Foreign Languages, the Study of Music and experience reading musical scores or using MatLab and other similar software.



Deadline for Application is Friday, March 20th, 2009. Applications from non-U.S. citizens currently residing outside the United States must be received no later than March 6, 2009.
