From July 17 - August 25, 2000 the Center will be hosting an NSF sponsored research workshop on Language Engineering. WS'00 is the eighth workshop in a series, the first five of which were sponsored by the Department of Defense.
This year there will be a total of 32 participants: 15 researchers, 11 graduate students and 6 undergraduate students.
The Opening Day Program will begin at 9:00am on July 17, 2000 in Arellano Theater on the JHU Homewood Campus. The opening day program is open to the public. The final program for WS'00 Opening Day will be available before July 12, 2000. Speakers on opening day will include government sponsors and personnel, team leaders, and techical and administrative personnel. The program usually lasts until 12:00pm.
The Closing Days Program will be held over two days August 23 and 24, 2000. The closing day program is open to the public. The final program for WS'00 Closing Days should be available before August 14, 2000. The closing days program allows the teams to present their progress and results to the language and speech community.
There will be five Guest Lecturers over the workshop period. Guest Lectures are scheduled on Wednesdays: July 19 & 26, August 2, 9, 16 at 10:30 am in Arellano Theater on the JHU Homewood Campus. Details on the speakers, titles, and abstracts will be posted as information becomes avaliable.
